Education and Experienced Required :
- Graduate of a DoD Aviation Safety Officer course
- Solid experience as an Aviation Safety Officer for helicopter operations
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in aviation field and / or utility
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
- OSHA 500 certification
- Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Able to manage and implement safety programs
- Impeccable written and aural communication skills
- Must be able to travel 25% of the time, including extended overnight and weekend travel
The Director of Safety will provide leadership and guidance throughout all operations of Haverfield Aviation. This will involve engaging every employee and clients of the company to ensure a “zero incident” environment for our employees and those affected by our business operations.
Preferably the Director of Safety will be a graduate of a DoD Aviation Safety Officer course, with solid experience in Helicopter Safety and OSHA. He / She must be a professional, with impeccable written and aural communication skills, as well as a leader that provides Solid Safety Solutions to our business operations. This is a fast paced environment that requires an unwavering Safety Professional.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Manage and maintain the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration, OSHA, EPA, ISBAO and Customer (Utility) regulations
- Must be able to oversee safety sensitive functions in diverse operations such as; flight safety, aircraft maintenance safety, and line safety
- Provide strong leadership and overall direction for organizational safety across all areas of operations
- Conduct internal audits of all safety sensitive functions to ensure compliance to applicable regulations
- Evaluates operational safety reports and audits to determine trends and risks to ensure highest level of safety
- Understands federal regulations and collaborates with industry and regulatory entities. (i.e. FAA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, NTSB)
- Collaborates with the department heads to develop and / or implement safety policies and procedures
- Conduct employee safety training
- Develop and manage company safety surveys
- Distribute safety newsletters and communications of industry safety issues
- Maintain continuous Safety Incentive programs
- Continues to drive cultural / behavioral change resulting in continued positive improvement of the Haverfield Safety Culture
- Ensures continued accreditation of Haverfield’s ISBAO Stage III Safety Certification
- Leads company Emergency Response Go-team
- Participates in company and customer partner safety committee meetings
